The Status of the Flipped Classroom in the Algerian University in Post-Covid19: Case Study of EFL Teachers of the Algerian Universities and Master One EFL students of Barika University Center.

Title: The Status of the Flipped Classroom in the Algerian University in Post-Covid19: Case Study of EFL Teachers of the Algerian Universities and Master One EFL students of Barika University Center.
Authors: Souad, benkorichi; Marwa, benyahia
Abstract: The emergence of Covid-19 has affected all domains including education. It led to many changes one of which
is the adoption of flipped classroom. This decision is made to limit the contagions caused by the virus. Therefore, this
dissertation investigates the effectiveness of flipped classroom and describes its implementation in the Algerian
universities. A descriptive qualitative method is adopted to scrutinise the implementation of flipped classroom in the
Algerian universities. Hence, relying on the convenient and purposive sampling techniques, the sample was selected. It
consists of 42 teachers from different Algerian universities and 80 Master One EFL students at Barika University Center.
Likewise, the questionnaire and the checklist represent the data gathering tools. The former was given to University
teachers whereas the latter was handed to the students. The findings reveal that the participants value the importance of the
flipped classroom; however, they find it difficult and challenging because of lack of organisation. Eventually, this method
will not be adopted in post-Covid-19 era as both teachers and students prefer a mixed method. Thus, it is recommended to
provide intensive training to facilitate working within the flipped classroom. It is also recommended to give importance to
planning before implementing any method.

Title: Optimality of Integrating Mentoring System in Higher Education to Overcome Learners’ Challenges and Difficulties: The case of first year students of English Department at Barika University Center
Authors: Soundous, Benkorichi; Yasmine, Dahou
Abstract: Higher education students face various challenges as they progress to the early stages at the
university, which may cause many educational barriers. In this vein, this study describes the
optimality of integrating mentoring to first year students from the English department at
Barika university centre. It is carried out with a qualitative descriptive analytical method that
involves describing, analysing then interpreting the obtained results. Interview and
observation have been chosen as the main data collecting tools. The line of inquiry of this
study is to check mentoring’s benefits and effects on first year students’ challenges and
performance. In this regard, to collect effective and efficient results, the study was based on a
focus group sampling technique to better explore the issue at hand. Hence, eight first-year
students were targeted. The results obtained reveal that eighty percent of the sample were
having difficulties to adjust to the new system and the content of several subjects. In response
to the collected data and their analysis, students expressed confidence, excitement as well as
appreciation for receiving the necessary assistance from mentorship programs, claiming that it
has influenced and raised their motivation levels.

Meeting Students’ Needs via Artificial Intelligence Case of Third-Year English Students at Barika University Center

Title: Meeting Students’ Needs via Artificial Intelligence Case of Third-Year English Students at Barika University Center
Authors: Mounia, Aliouche; Douaa, Mezghich
Abstract: Meeting the learners’ needs is the purpose of any English as a Foreign Language (EFL) program. Nowadays, Artificial intelligence (AI) is among the crucial areas of investment that affects all aspects of life. Hence, this research was an effort to shed light on the potential of AI to meet EFL students’ needs in post-COVID-19 pandemic era. In the present study, forty-one (41) third-year students from the English department of Barika University Center were conveniently sampled to be questioned about their needs using a valid and reliable Needs Analysis (NA) questionnaire. Subsequently, deductive thematic analysis for ten (10) purposively sampled literature; using themes parallel with the NA’s results, was conducted. Results show that AI can cover participants’ needs in the following areas: providing practice opportunities, enhancing linguistic skills and components with a variety of applications/software, providing a learner-centered environment that ensures productivity, providing a variety of real-like materials with visual aids, enhancing autonomy and self-regulation, reducing the affective filter and enhancing motivation, self-efficacity, and self-confidence, providing immediate formative feedback, personalizing the teaching/learning experience, guiding and giving recommendations, providing collaborative learning opportunities. Hence, the use and investigation of AI in EFL education is highly recommended.
