Abstract

Local records are a source of history study and writing, and their importance increases if they carry special information that is not found in other sources, or are characterized by generalizations. In this context, we want to publish and make known an important local manuscript that deals with an important period in the history of Algeria under French colonialism during the nineteenth century, especially the sixties of that century, whose events had dire consequences for Algerians. Especially the various resistances, news of natural disasters, pandemics, and the effects of famine and distress. This manuscript is entitled: The Registrations of Ahmad ibn alArabi on the Events of the Sixties of the Nineteenth Century, written by Ahmad ibn al-Arabi al-Barakati. Publishing and introducing such manuscripts will enhance the historical culture of generations, contribute to building a national historical school, and give a different opinion than those known accounts of historical events.
